Deze techniek wordt gebruikt om thermo hardend schuim te vormen door thermo hardende polyurethaanhars (PUR) in een mal te injecteren, waar het reageert om een geschuimd of massief onderdeel te vormen. Afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid kan een mal van GRP (glasvezelversterkte kunststof), aluminium of staal worden gebruikt.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dit proces kan worden gedefinieerd in 3 fasen. In fase 1 worden de mallen schoongemaakt en wordt lossingsmiddel aangebracht. Inzetstukken en frames worden geplaatst, en de mal wordt gesloten. De twee componenten om PUR te cre\u00ebren, polyol en isocyanaat, worden in afzonderlijke containers bewaard en worden in een mengkop gevoerd waar ze onder hoge druk worden gecombineerd. Tijdens fase 2 begint het polymeer uit te zetten in de mal. In fase 3 wordt het product na 5-15 minuten uit de mal gehaald, afhankelijk van de grootte en dikte van het onderdeel.     <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Typische toepassingen van RIM zijn meubels zoals autostoelen, treinstoelen, fietszadels, vliegtuigstoelen, armsteunen en kussens.
